LES HUNKELE, P.E., C.C.M., C.P.E., LEED AP, F. CCMA Senior Vice President

Mr. Hunkele has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He is a Professional Engineer, a Certified Construction Manager, Certified Plant Engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional. He is also a Fellow of CMAA. He has held senior leadership positions with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, General Services Administration, Defense Department, Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation, AECOM and Clark Construction in the management of major, complex programs worldwide.
His areas of expertise encompass planning, budgeting, design, program and construction management, operations and maintenance, real estate development and contracting. Mr. Hunkele has extensive experience as an owner, owner’s representative, agency Construction Manager, at-risk Construction Manager, and as a general contractor. He had an unlimited contracting warrant, was head of contracting activity, and was an Authority Having Jurisdiction for Life Safety.
Mr. Hunkele has managed several LEED certified projects including: the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Headquarters (the first building to receive the LEED Platinum rating), the Census Bureau Headquarters (a LEED Gold project), and several LEED Silver projects.
Mr. Hunkele received CMAA’s Outstanding Service Award and Fellow status. He is the recipient of ASCE’s Roebling Award for Outstanding Contributions to Construction Engineering, The GSA Administrator’s Outstanding Performance award and several awards for work on 9/11 recovery.
