CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

OVERVIEW:  Plans, directs, and coordinates all on-site work, including Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) activities, to insure compliance with applicable company, client and government regulations and requirements. Decides acceptance or rejection of all work in process and completed work activities. May technically direct, instruct and train inspectors in assigned disciplines. May participate as a member of a project Quality Assurance Audit team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work directly with project inspectors, engineers and construction managers in setting up project QA/QC standards and procedures.
• Provide technical oversight of all inspectors assigned to the project.
• Work directly with the Project Manager on technical and training matters.
• Regularly monitor Quality Assurance/Quality Control throughout the project team and report findings and recommendations to the Project Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree in civil, structural engineering or architecture and two years experience as Inspector of Record, Construction Manager or Senior Project Engineer, or high school diploma and at least 6 years of such experience
• At least 10 years experience in construction and construction management
• Knowledge of inspection and testing procedures and reports, construction means and methods, project controls procedures and standards, cost estimating techniques, claims mitigation control, and safe work practices.
• Professional Engineer registration, Architect’s license, PMP, LEED, CMA, and/or ICBO Certification(s) desirable
• Ability to set and manage priorities
• Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, cost management and project management software
• Familiarity with Primavera, Microsoft Project or similar project management software is desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Able to work as a team member, contributing to the overall program development by participating in group discussions in areas of expertise.
