OFFICE ENGINEER
OVERVIEW: Supervises document control activities for projects of all sizes. Reports to Project Manager or other designated supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes and maintains project-specific document control procedures, policies and practices, including but not limited to:
- Hard-copy filing systems.
- Records retention and destruction.
- Electronic storage (scanning and database systems).
- Supervises Document Control Specialists and Technicians assigned to the project.
- Manages all types of project-related documents, including but not limited to:
- Drawings and other design documents, including as-builds.
- Submittals, RFIs, change orders and other construction documents.
- Specifications and contracts.
- Reports.
- Correspondence.
- Oversees all document control activities, including but not limited to:
- Filing hard-copy documents.
- Scanning documents for electronic storage.
- Maintaining inventories and indices of project documents.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in project management, engineering, journalism, liberal arts, business, computer science or related field. Years of experience in document control may be substituted for a degree.
- At least 10 years of document control experience, including a working knowledge of all facets of manual and electronic document control systems.
- Ability to set and manage priorities
- Ability to supervise subordinates.
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, cost management and project management software
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision; previous success as a team leader
- High integrity and honesty
