RESIDENT ENGINEER
OVERVIEW: Provides technical and administrative direction to field engineering and surveying personnel, including scheduling, training, assigning work activities, and monitoring performance. Ensures all primary, secondary and layout control data comply with engineering standards. Ensures that all engineering, surveys, inspections, etc. are complete and comply with company and project procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review, analyze and resolve field construction problems, discrepancies and interferences within area of discipline with A/E, supervision, client, and other contractors, as required.
- Prepare designs for field built forms, shoring, trays, hangers, pads, etc., as required. May include researching vendor data for customized products.
- Review and approve field design change requests prepared by field and area engineers.
- Develop/update Field Work Procedure documents as required – may involve research and interpretation of Codes, technical manuals, journals, etc.
- Review A/E supplied drawings and purchase order specifications to insure. Vendor has adequate information to supply required field furnished material; field furnished material has been ordered; and delivery dates support schedule.
- Provide technical direction and supervision to engineering personnel. Provide review of A/E design documents for constructability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil or other discipline)
- At least 15 years experience in construction engineering and design
- Professional Registration required
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, cost management and project management software
- Able to set and manage priorities
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Able to work as a team member, contributing to the overall program development by participating in-group discussions in areas of expertise
- High integrity and honesty
