OAKLAND, CA -
Luster National, Inc. held its 1st Annual Golf Hackers Tournament at the Chuck Corica Golf Course in Alameda, California on October 18, 2002. The tournament is an annual fundraiser for Luster Fund Powerlinks Program, an educational program for high school students and their families aimed at enhancing awareness of career opportunities and strengthening the linkages between classroom study and workplace skills and expectations. Luster Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable purpose public benefit corporation, which continues the Luster tradition of collaborative pursuits between the business community, low to moderate-income communities, and the public sector.
Participants were Luster's team members, friends, and business partners. Hole sponsorship was contributed by RINA, a San Francisco Bay Area accounting firm. RINA performs Luster's annual accounting and tax services. Jeff Addiego donated Warriors memorabilia.
Also present to assist in coordinating the tournament were Laura Luster and Suzanne Pershing. Scores were tallied by Joy Luster and Nancy Berg.
Group 7 of Johnson Controls team, whose score of 65 bested Group 3's 66, won The Best Group Award. The Best Hackers Award went to Group 1; and Kevin Hale captured the Closest to the Pin Award.
