Welcome home for John Hoge |

Sacramento, CA, June 1, 2006
June 1, 2006 was celebrated as a "welcome home" for John Hoge who recently returned to the United States after working in Iraq for the last two years. John unselfishly served his Nation as an engineer in the country's redevelopment efforts, working side-by-side with representatives from many countries and members of the Armed Forces. His background as an environmental engineer proved invaluable in the efforts to re-establish the economy and infrastructure of this war-torn country. John is an employee of Luster National, Inc., a California-based project management firm. Company representatives, community politicians, friends, and family gathered to recognize John and his achievements. Rick Soares, Mayor of Elk Grove, presented a proclamation on behalf of the city in which John's family resides. Company employees from as far away as Virginia and New Orleans traveled to acknowledge his exemplary dedication and commitment. The ceremony also included a Sacramento County Proclamation, the presentation of a Luster service award, and recognition of his accomplishments. John was acclaimed for his service before being deployed back to the United States by the U.S. Embassy Office in Mosul, Iraq. A flag that was flown over the Embassy Office on March 20, 2006 was presented to John at the celebration. The flag was flown in acknowledgement of the service he rendered for his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The flag will now be flown over Sacramento in recognition and honor for service beyond the call of duty for this young civilian. At the conclusion of the dinner held at Cattleman's in Dixon, John shared his experience with a slide show of pictures taken during his assignment. The presentation made the experience real for those in attendance, as well as thankful for his safe return.
