OVERVIEW

In a joint venture, operating under the team name of Hartsfield Construction Management, Luster is construction manager and resident engineer for a $500 million, 9,000-foot fifth parallel runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The joint venture includes DMJM Aviation, Bovis Lending Lease, Louis Berger and the Thacker Operating Company, Inc.

The parallel runway is part of a 10-year, $5.4 billion capital improvement program at the airport that will include additional land and airside facilities.

The new fifth runway will be located 4,200 feet south of Runway 9R-27L, and have a full-length parallel taxiway and dual north/south taxiways to connect to the existing airfield. The runway will be equipped to accommodate CAT II operations with the capability to accommodate CAT III in the future. Bridges over I-285 will be required for the runway and associated taxiways.

The scope of construction management services includes: resident engineering, cost and schedule monitoring, inspection, safety observation, contracts management and change order control.

The Hartsfield Construction Management team will also guide the construction of the proposed eastside terminal, consolidated rental car facility and other improvements at the airport.
