194_0543_1-20-2016LUSTER assigned a Project Engineer as part of a 9-person Construction Management (CM) team to provide technical support to the Senior Construction Manager at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) Project.  The CM Team served as Owner’s Representative in the construction of the $850 million, 400-bed, Acute Care Hospital.  LUSTER’s Project Engineer was responsible for maintaining project control systems, including logs, budget and accounting records and CPM schedule updating. The Project Engineer performed specialized technical analyses, including substitution requests, bid evaluations and claims analyses.

013_0008_1-08-2016The Project Engineer evaluated and estimated change orders; coordinated and monitored the review if schedule updates invoices, submittals and Document Clarification Requests (DCRs).  He coordinated and provided input in development of technical resolutions with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), A/E, Superintendents and/or inspectors.  LUSTER’s Project/Field Engineer also assisted the Senior Construction Manager, managing OSHPD requirements for change orders.

SFGH built in 1872, is an integral part of the regional medical community.  The center consists of a 23-acre, 14-building complex, with more than 1.3 million sq.ft. of office and clinic space. The facility provides a full complement of general acute care (serving 3,000 severely injured patients annually), outpatient care (285,000 patients annually), and emergency care (50,000 patients annually). In addition, the hospital provides extensive nursing, diagnostic, mental health, and rehabilitation services to Bay Area residents.
